Preschool sign-ups...

Well, they weren't quite what I expected. I thought they would give an overview of their program, what the children will do all day, what they will learn... you know a general
what to expect.

Instead, we got a here are all the teachers at our four locations and some photos on tri-folds.

Maybe I'm being a little picky, but this is my son. Shouldn't I want the best for him?

We didn't get a tour of the rooms or any kind of preview of what each location does. Just a sign-up sheet and a moody nurse telling all the parents that they think their kid has all the shots they need, but they
probably don't.

The teachers I spoke to were nice, but the overall process left a lot to be desired. I'm starting to rethink pre-school, or at least this pre-school. Red flags were thrown up from the moment I walked in. For
instance, it's every day from 9 to 2. That's a long time for a toddler.
I've learned as a mom never to ignore those red flags. I did once, and I
still regret it. I'm sure it is a nice preschool, but I'm not sure it's
the right fit for our family.

Hi Ivy,
Thanks for sharing. This is definitely a hard decision to make. If you don't feel right about it, maybe you can talk to the parents who had their kids in this or other preschools. See what they think about the overall impact of going/not going, or which school to go to. Also, maybe this is not the right school for your son, everyone is different. Maybe others have just chosen this because many other people have done the same.

Thanks Dawn. I have been homeschooling him some already. That was my thought too. He does get some social interaction at Sunday School and his music class.

He is still signed up, so he hasn't lost his spot. Luckily we don't have to truly decide until spring. But I am going to look into other options. I'd like something smaller and half days. I think full days would be quite a shock to this little guy whose been home with his mommy until now.

Thanks so much for the support Dawn!

So don't do it. Listen to your gut instinct. If you don't feel right about the school, don't put your kid in it. Before giving up completely, though, you may look at other preschools nearby. Otherwise, teach the kid what you think they should learn yourself. Homeschooled preschool! They may not get the social aspect of it, but they will be a little bit more prepared for school than if they didn't get any learning at all. Just my own thoughts.
