I am sure many of us have watched the show "I Didn't Know I Was Pregnant". Personally, I didn't know that this is possible until I watched the series. Previously, I always had a predefined notion of what signals pregnancy.
Now, I think it is essential to know our body well and be aware of the signs of pregnancy so that we can avoid being unprepared and start prenatal care as early as possible.
From your experience or knowledge, what are the signs of pregnancy? What is the correct way to use over the counter pregnancy test?

I think the early signs, like most of the pregnancy, differs for every woman. The two times I've been pregnant, with my first and my most recent that just ended in miscarriage, I knew about week after I conceived. Some women, not all, will have what's called implantation bleeding when the egg implants itself in your uterine lining. The first time, I thought I was getting my period early, but I only slighted spotted for about a half a day and then nothing.

Another sign for me, which came before it would have shown up in the pregnancy test was my mood change. I don't get touchy or moody before my period, but all of the sudden I will snap over something very stupid.

After that, some other symptoms that may arise are your breasts will get sore and a it larger, you will have to pee every hour (or at least it seems that way) through the night, and you may be extremely tired.

I think the best route to take if you think you may get pregnant or are actively trying is to stay healthy and take vitamins.

Over the counter tests, my goodness there are so many. I like and trust First Response the most. It's reliable and very hard to screw up. The electronic ones are so touchy that if you move it the wrong way it will not be able to give you a result at all. With First Response you can test up to five days before you missed period, but not all women have the pregnancy hormone strong enough to read that early. It's hard to wait though. So I would suggest buying the box that has two tests, do one the first day you can then save the other one for the day or day after your missed period.
Thanks Ivy! One more sign I have read online is that elevated body temperature over prolonged period of time can also be a sign of pregnancy. This is why some doctors advice women to take their body temperature regularly if they are trying to conceive...
