My goal today is not to eat chips, which are part of the free snack bar at work!
Well, this is the weekend so........ it is my time to endulge here and there. I am meeting friends at Olive Garden tonight, so I will have a bread stick and some pasta. Then I'm off to the Dublin Festival near Columbus, Ohio, so I will probably enjoy some Irish food. Even so, I try to just nibble the treats. I really like this idea, though.
Ok. I stayed away from the chips today:)
Another thing to is to drink milk or soy milk to get more calcium.... I have not been doing that at all...
Hi Joanna,
How was the festival? What is the Festival about?
Let me know if there is anything you want me to keep you accountable regarding your diet:)

In addition to staying accountable for regular exercise... it makes perfect sense to stay accountable for eating too. I have found that I am an emotional eater. When I was younger, it never mattered much because I was so active, but now it is harder to stay as active, and it takes twice as long to burn off the same amount. I have had an insatiable sweet tooth lately. I need to eat fruit today instead of cookies. (my goal)
To keep to my goal about getting more calcium, I will need to get some milk and yogurt from grocery store tomorrow!

I think most people are emotional eaters, at least that's what I've found with my clients and friends/family. Women are emotional creatures, so why wouldn't food be in that category as well for us? Hormones hormones hormones! Chocolate chocolate chocolate! lol Just remember your goal each day....
Hi Joanna - the festival is an Irish fesitval with music, dancing, food, crafts, etc. It was pretty big, too. I was disappointed, though that there really wasn't much Irish food to try. They had booths that were selling grocery-type food found in Ireland, but it was ridiculously expensive. Overall, I ended up eating reasonably well.

Joanna, I have found yogart to be a very easy way to get calcium. I have it with an egg for breakfast, and sometimes for a snack. I don't know how you feel about this, but I also take a calcium supplement. They say that the amount of calcium women need is almost impossible to find just in food.

Boy do I relate to this! All I want is sweets when things aren't goin' so well. I want sweets all the time, though! There have been times, when I've already had my sweet quota for the day, that I have forced myself to eat a handful of blueberries and some walnuts. It did taste good, and I felt better about myself for eating the right food.

Yes, I have heard the same that it is almost never enough calcium if I just rely on food alone. I wonder if there is a recommended amount of calcium I should take each day? Let's say one or two calcium pills? Also, there are some pills with vitamin in it to help with calcium absorption. So many choices..

I can't tell you what the exact amount is, because I have read many different numbers - some higher than others. I'm 44 and I take 630mg of calcium w/ 400iu of D3. I also started taking a Vit D. supplement of 700iu. I read that 1,000 ius of D3 is a good bet. I would not start on anything, though until you've researched for yourself.
