I have recently heard about this Acai Berry Diet. I have heard that it can help to detox your system and slow down aging process, is this true and how safe is it? Does it help to lose weight?
I personally prefer and would always advise to others that exercising is the best way to lose weight. But I want to help others understand whether this is a safe, as they call it "power food".

I have been wondering the same thing myself!!!
Joanna, there are more than a dozen different juices or pills with acai in them. When you stop using the product the weight may return. The acai is supposed to give you more energy. So when you stop taking it does your energy vanish and you regain the weight? A simple meal plan and weight management plan can be found at http://www.vitalityforlife.com It is planning your meals with the calories you need to lose weight, drinking water and doing moderate exercises. I lost 24 pounds in 4 months on this plan and didn't pay more than I was already shopping for each month. Acai is not cheap. Go to a health food store near you and talk to the nutritionist before you spend $30 or $40 a bottle.
It is great to see that we have various different experiences with power food and diet plan! I figured it is useful to share our experiences so we know what to avoid and what to try. We all know how much money we can spend just on dieting stuff that doesn't work:(

To add, my friend has told me the following:
I was using Acai Berry Blast, which I was getting from GNC and the Vitamin Shoppe. I felt like it was making a difference, but recently I stopped using it, because of financial problems. I actually have not seen any difference one way or the other since I stopped using it, which tells me that other eating habits that I have adopted are what has really made the difference for me. The Berry Blast had green tea extracts in it, as well. I was drinking green tea religiously, but kind of got lazy about it, lately. I have had some weight gain (very slight), so I am going back to drinking my green tea. Basically, I don't think the Acai Berry Blast was making any significant difference.

Hi Coni,
I am helping my friend ask this question and I bet there are many of us wondering the same. I am mainly referring to Acai Berry pill, not the real fruit. Maybe the real fruit is better. BTW, what do you mean by the free samples from the internet? Did they not get the product at all or did they try it and didn't work?

Hi Joanna!

I agree that proper nutrition and exercise are the best ways to maintain a normal weight and to stay healthy.

Are you talking about ingesting the berry itself or a specific diet that includes it?

The acai is a very nutritious fruit and provides tons of anti-oxidents if taken in a whole food form. My company actually uses it as one of the 70 ingredients in our newest product called Shakeolgy It definitely has its place in helping people live healthier lives.

I can see no reason why, if eaten in normal quantities, that it would not be safe. Since it is low in fat and high in nutrients it would be appropriate for someone trying to lose weight and be healthier

That being said, one thing you DO want to watch out for are the scams associated with some less scrupulous sellers of products made from Acai. I have heard SEVERAL first hand accounts of people ordering the "free sample" from ads posted on the internet only to have their credit cards charged for a bunch of unauthorized stuff.

I hope that helps!

Thanks ladies for your sharing so far! Just found some more facts about the nutritional content of Acai Berry (not necessary the pill though): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acai_berry#Fruit
Here, they also mentioned about the marketing scams that Coni warned us about...

In the interests of transparency, I am a Network Marketer with a company that deals directly with the overwhelming levels of increasing weight in our society, together with the sugar epidemic and the lack of vitamin content in the beverage market.

Our product has been developed with these issues in mind but won't be commercially available to consumers until Jan. 2010. By all means if any of you ladies would like a sample of the product just let me know and I would be happy to oblige.

Mona*Vie is an excellent company with an excellent product but is subject to cost considerations in this economy. Our product will retail at $3.99, directly in competition with the 'grocery store' beverage makers in order to assist in reversing the epidemic weight gain levels as a nation and taking all the sugar out of our kids drinks.

We do not have a 'product only' video at the moment but it will come soon. If you ladies would like me to publish the link to our main video then I would be happy to do so. You don't need to put in any information and you can fast forward it to the product details.

As I said if anyone would like samples, you can send me your address to my personal email. michelerosb@aol.com

kind regards,

Michele Rosborough
