Believe it or not, store brand creams have formaldehyde in them as a preservative. It may say preservative or quaternium 15, look it up and you will see that it is a carcinogen. It is absorbed into the skin and passes to the cells. Make sure you know what you are putting on your skin. There are many safer products, check here for more info: www.evelyn1.fourpointwellness.com
Something else you need to think about is what other brands of skincare and even foundation you are using. Skin care lines are designed together. Using a cleanser from Brand A and a night cream from Brand C and a moisturizer from Brand Q, could lead to results that you . Chemically, skincare lines are designed to work with the other products designed for that brand.
I'm a skincare consultant and am in a family in the medical field, this is the first thing I ask my clients when they are not happy with their skin. 95% of the time, they are using products from multiple brands.

That Quaternium 15 comes under different names, as well. I happen to know all about this ingredient, since I just recently found out that I am allergic to it. The list is kind of lengthy, so if anyone wants to know the other names, let me know. I was having reactions from Loreal eyeshadow, and found out it has this in it, so no more Loreal shadow - I can use their face powders, however. As far as skin care, I ended up switching to Aveeno for most of it. I use Aveeno's oatmeal face bar to cleanse around my eyes, and that has helped reduce any symptoms I might develop - like from sitting in cigarette smoke at a concert recently - which I'm allergic too, also.
Joanna - have you tried a facial scrub? I use Olay's Detoxifying Pore Scub 2 or 3 times a week. It really has smoothed my skin out. As far as anti-aging, I'm using Aveeno's Positively Ageless daily moisturizer w/ sunscreen. I don't use anything on my skin at night except for an astringent/toner and undereye cream.
Evelyn - I know what you mean by other women looking way older than their age. I am 44, and most people are shocked to discover my true age - and do let us in out your free products. Do tell!

A lot of people are allergic to formaldehyde(quarterium 15) It is also linked to cancer and asthma. I developed skin cancer when I was 17. I am very picky about what I use. I shop through an all natural store. Its not free but it ends up free when you refer others. Avon and mary kay have great products too. However if you are interested in hearing more about greener products for your face and body try Nicole Miller and go to www.internetceomoms.com/kkortright
we carry a whole line of nicole miller products and more...
