Hi all,
Today, I listened to an interview in the radio of a recent study being done on bottled water quality and its contaminants. The group is called EWG (Environmental Working Group) and it is a non profit organization whose mission is to study and publish consumer products for their actual quality versus what they claim it to be. There is a pretty extensive study on bottled water quality and it appears that its quality control regulation is not even as strict as tap water. Some of the bottled water brands have quality that are just about the same as tap water, while some others have even worst quality and contain multiple contaminants. The thing is these companies charge a premium price for their bottled water products. So before we drink more bottled water, you should read their study results and at least become more informed:

Hope this helps!

Yuck! I didn't know it wasn't as strict as for tap water. I know NY has one of the best/most strict tap water "rules," so good thing I usually just refill bottles with tap water!

I watched it on TV, it may have been on Oprah. We have a whole house filtration system and a second reverse osmosis under the kitchen sink. Why have cancer rates skyrocked? Look at what is in your home. Only you can be the one to help your family stay healthy. You must prevent illnesses before they happen.

More facts about bottled water quality from MSNBC show:
They say that bottled water should now be treated as a distant second choice to filtered tap water.

Yes, personally, I filtered tap water with Brita filter and then boil it before drinking. However, I have been drinking bottled water too when I am not at home. I now should try to bring water with me when I go out...

Hi Evelyn,
Thanks! I think we should all be more aware and do preventive work to protect our family. BTW, I have heard a few times about reverse osmosis filtration and have some friends who have installed such system. I wonder how does it work exactly?
