Network for Wives

A Community Where Wives Connect

Hi. Last week Joanna asked for help with getting traffic and increasing blog visibility and I mentioned in a follow up that I had figured out how to increase authority on technorati and also how to increase visibility through a follow me club. So, here's what I have to offer. First, add your name and website to this document.

http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=0Av8p9-qd0Ap1dFBMWWZSbFRnSUF...

Then if you place your cursor on the left of the website address you will see some funny arrows. If you click on those arrows it will take you to the website. Click on a follow me link or write a comment on their blog. Somehow let your friend from network for wives know you have been there.

Next, go to www.technorati.com and claim your blog if you haven't claimed it before. Claiming your blog allows you to be acknowledged by search engines. In your next posting, place the web links of other blogs in your post, go to technorati and ping your blog. You will see that your blog will increase in what is called "authority" That means that as far as the search engines spiders can tell, your blog is becoming popular. This is very important in the blogging world . If you look at the bloggers that have "made it" they have extremely high authority numbers . That is, more traffic.

I've done this for Joanna's blog and Ivy's and also have twittered about Ivy's blog. Give it a try and lets see how we do with this teamwork.

Technorati changed their "authority" parameters.

Hi Angel
I think that blogger is the easiest use. I've tried a few of the others like wordpress, webly, and livejournal but I really just like the way blogger is set up. I'm a stay-at-home mom and my son is in third grade so I usually work on my blog most of the time that he's in school and I usually take a blogging break on the weekends. I have a lot of html instructions and blogging tips on my blog, 'Manda Blogs About... You could start your blog with a post about your business site to get things rolling then you can go with a niche that has to do with your business. Once you get started it'll be easier to find topics to write about. If you need any help, let me know and I'll try to help you out.

Ladies I love the support being displayed here! Since we are on the topic of blogs, I would you’re your feedback?

It was recently suggested I create a blog to help drive traffic to my business website, by marketing the business URL somewhere on my blog.

I am new to the “blogging world” so any feedback is highly appreciated. Is there a particular blogging site you prefer to use when creating a blog- example,blogs.com ?

Keep in mind I am not extremely tech-savvy, I know enough to get by….What is the best way to start a blog? Last, how much time each day or week do you put into updating your blog?

Kathleen, once my blog is up and going, I will add my information to the document.

Thanks!
Angel
Hi,

I heard from a marketing person that a blog should be hosted at the website. Blogs are usually updated more frequently than websites and therefore would drive traffic to the website simply by being hosted there. Here's an example of a blog being hosted at a website. http://www.sagelead.com/

Note the header and the blog listed at the upper right hand corner of the page. Also note the address of the blog once you click on the link. I did some temp work for this woman. While I was working for her, she was on the phone with an Internet Marketing guy, who explained to her the importance of having a blog hosted at the website.
Hi Lauren,
I think this definitely makes sense! Especially if it is a collection of blog updates from different bloggers, then the collective effort will drive even more traffic?

Hi Ladies!
As we are just starting the new year, let's pick up the gears and take our blogs to the next level! How is everybody's blog doing? Keep us posted!

Sorry...but how do you "Claim your Blog?" I went to the technorati.com but was lost from there. I did however, follow all the ones on the list (If I could).

Thanks :)
Hi Kathleen, I followed all your steps. Now Technorati has emailed me and said that they encountered a problem reading the blog. It's the rss url token. I have one on the website (www.zen-mama.com) so I'm not sure what the token is. Does it have to be on each blog page? Thanks for your help!!!
I made a profile for myself then it said "claim your blog" there. The sign in area in up in the top right hand corner.
