Network for Wives

A Community Where Wives Connect

Hi. Last week Joanna asked for help with getting traffic and increasing blog visibility and I mentioned in a follow up that I had figured out how to increase authority on technorati and also how to increase visibility through a follow me club. So, here's what I have to offer. First, add your name and website to this document.

http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=0Av8p9-qd0Ap1dFBMWWZSbFRnSUF...

Then if you place your cursor on the left of the website address you will see some funny arrows. If you click on those arrows it will take you to the website. Click on a follow me link or write a comment on their blog. Somehow let your friend from network for wives know you have been there.

Next, go to www.technorati.com and claim your blog if you haven't claimed it before. Claiming your blog allows you to be acknowledged by search engines. In your next posting, place the web links of other blogs in your post, go to technorati and ping your blog. You will see that your blog will increase in what is called "authority" That means that as far as the search engines spiders can tell, your blog is becoming popular. This is very important in the blogging world . If you look at the bloggers that have "made it" they have extremely high authority numbers . That is, more traffic.

I've done this for Joanna's blog and Ivy's and also have twittered about Ivy's blog. Give it a try and lets see how we do with this teamwork.

Hi Kathleen,
Thank you so much for laying out the instructions as how we can help each other grow our blog or community! I have just added mine to the spreadsheet and left comment + follow in your blogs.
I normally twitter various updates, I will start twittering about Ivy and your blog!

This is such a great idea. I added my information and I am following all of the blogs and left comments on the others.

Hi--I'll get over to both of your blogs and keep working on this too! I really hope we can get something started to help each other! One of the things that I think people have complained about on other groups is that there is a desire for friendship instead of promoting. I think that helping each other in this way can be a way for us to build ties between each other. I hope it can.

Hi--I've posted on www.answersformoms.blogspot.com about three blogs that were on the ping and follow club list. I've pinged and followed or attempted to follow all. I've also twittered about the blogs. Hope this helps.

First of all, I'd like to thank Kathleen for her hard work, and wonderful explanations on how to do all this stuff! I initially procrastinated on doing everything she mentioned here because I'm extremely tech un-savvy. But, today, I did it! I have added my name to the Google page. I've also visited, followed (if possible), and left comments on the blogs of:

Kaydee (4 blogs, I think)
Ivy
Joanna
Amy
Manda (2 blogs)
Lauren

Soooo...now I have a question. Do I have to post links to everyone's blogs on my own blog? Or is it all right to just tweet on Twitter about others' blogs?

Also, does my blog's authority increase because I have links to others' blogs within my post?

Okey dokey, my head is now spinning! Have a great evening everyone.

Okay, I've just presented each of you with the Over the Top Blog Award. Just go to my blog to receive your award at: www.hollybowne.blogspot.com. In presenting this award, I've included a link to each of your blogs.

Congratulations ladies!

The way I understand it is that you have to write about or link in your own posts. This can be done as simply as writing a note about what the other sites have been writing about in their blogs with a linked word. Then go ping your blog. As an added bonus to help yourself and other bloggers you can FAVE those blogs that you have linked in your posts on technorati. Again that increases their authority but because they are also doing it for you it increases your authority. Anyway I'm off to write about your blog and others in my blogs: will follow, ping, link and twitter. I know this seems like a lot but it increases the visibility of the group and helps everyone's blog be recognized by those "search spiders" that roam the internet. They have to know where to roam and this is how it works. Site, ping, follow and twitter women!

Hey ladies! Sorry I've been MIA. My poor laptop shorted out and had to spend a few days in the Apple hospital. I was able to answer some posts and do a couple blogs on my blackberry (which yes is a pain), but it wouldn't load every page.

I'm getting caught up now and will be visiting, commenting and pinging each of you!

I've also been preparing some presentations for a few corporations who have hired me to talk about social media. My master's training was in social media, but I focused on the journalism aspect instead of marketing. While doing research for these presentations, I've learned a lot about marketing online. I'll be sharing it all with you and through my blog. Stay tuned and let me know if there is anything you need.

Lots of love!

Thank you for so much for doing this--especially while in the hospital! I'm hoping that you are feeling better and doing better. I hope you saw that note on the freelance writer blog that I sent in. Also, have to do a bit of work on this but have been trying to get some resume experience done including volunteer work to help. Take care,
